Evening with an Expert: War Comes to Fredericksburg

On December 11th near the eve of the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg, with Frank O’Reilly, historian of the Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park. Considered to be one of the premier historians of the battle, his lecture, War Comes to Fredericksburg will explore the Battle of Fredericksburg from the prospective of the soldiers who fought during the battle and the citizens who witnessed it. Frank O’Reilly remarks, “In 1862, Fredericksburg witnessed the gathering of thousands of soldiers from every corner of the Union and Confederacy—who fought and died in a strange land along the Rappahannock River. Thousands of these soldiers fell transforming Fredericksburg’s backyards into battlefields—and making an indelible mark in the nation’s history.”

Evening with an Expert is free and open to the public and will be held in the Museum’s Mansard Gallery beginning at 7:00 pm at 1001 Princess Anne Street. A members’ only reception will follow in the galleries. For more information on this event, please contact Tramia Jackson, tjackson@famcc.org, or 540-371-3037, ext. 140.
