I. Do We Have a Policy On That?: Effective Employment Policies and Procedures
Your company may have a handbook, but does it really serve its intended purpose? Personnel policies and procedures are important for educating employees, setting expectations and workplace rules, and providing guidance when situations arise. But many handbooks get so bogged down in the details that they miss the bigger picture. This session will help you understand the necessity and purpose of employee handbooks by examining key policies, and how to consistently apply the policies and procedures. After all, no HR professional should have to ask, "Do we have a policy on that?"
II. Keeping Up With the Times: Recent Developments in Labor and Employment Law
We've all heard the old maxim: "The more things change, the more they stay the same." Unfortunately, it does not apply in the HR arena, where the law seems to change every day. To effectively do their jobs, HR professionals must keep up with new laws, new court decisions, and new agency policies and agendas. In this interactive session, we will look at recent legal developments impacting HR professionals, including recent and expected Supreme Court decisions, new and pending legislation, and the enforcement priorities of various federal agencies to enable you to help your company keep up with the changing times.
This program is approved for 3.0 credit hours for PHR and SPHR recertification throug Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
